Dr. Tarlow is a Board-Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon with over 22 years specializing in surgery of the knee. Guided by the principles of specialty patient care and individual service he opened his own clinic, Advanced Knee Care, in September of 2008. The Advanced Knee Care name characterizes the focused professional services provided at our clinic. Dr. Tarlow has two office locations in the Valley, one in North Scottsdale (on the Scottsdale Healthcare Thompson Peak campus – newer Grayhawk office building north of hospital) and one in Mesa (Baseline Road between Lindsay and Val Vista). Stefan D. Tarlow, M.D. practiced for 17 years at the Portland Knee Clinic (Oregon) and 3 years at Southwest Sports Medicine and Orthopedic Clinic (Arizona) prior to opening Advanced Knee Care.

Dr. Tarlow received his MD degree in 1982 from the Oregon Health Sciences University. His Orthopaedic Surgery Residency was also at the Oregon Health Sciences University. He has done two fellowships, one in Knee Surgery in Sweden with Dr. Jan Gillquist and one in Sports Medicine with Dr. James Andrews in Birmingham.

Dr. Tarlow's practice focuses on excelling in the art of Knee Diagnosis and Surgery. He is known as an expert in Minimally Invasive Surgery (MIS), Total Knee Replacement (TKR), Computer Assisted Surgery (CAS) – Navigation – for Total Knee Replacement, Patient Matched Custom Total Knee Replacement (PMI), Unicompartmental Knee Replacement, Cartilage Reconstructive Procedures (Carticel or Autologous Chondrocyte Implantation), Meniscal Transplant, Knee Ligament Reconstruction, including Anterior Cruciate Ligament (ACL) and multiple knee ligament surgery and Knee Arthroscopy. Adding Mako Robotic Partial Knee Replacement (Makoplasty) in 2011.

Dr. Tarlow is also known for his diagnosis and treatment of complex knee injuries and conditions and receives these types of referrals from his orthopaedic colleagues.
